Things I love today

It is truth universally acknowledged: your total bill at Target will always be far, far more than you initially expected to spend. I go in to buy a $7 deodorant, one thing leads to another, and I end up with $125 worth of toiletries, cleaning supplies, and various items I "needed." How does this happen?

What happened today is that it was fricking hot and I wanted something to help me (stylishly) combat the Houston heat.

First up: Sateen cotton dress with interesting neckline detail and waist-defining sash. It has a sophisticated shape (with and without the sash, actually) and can be dressed up (peep toe heels, fancy clutch, and gold jewelry) or down (boho jewelry, colorful bag, and below sandals). $22.99 you guys!

Next: Bronze snake flat gladiator(ish) sandals. These are chic and quite comfortable. Also, I saw similar shoes at Nordstrom last week retailing for $80+. These bronze babies look a lot more expensive than $24.99. Let's be honest, this is the whole point of shopping at Target.

On another note, this weekend I will be attending my best friend's wedding, which will be a lovely backyard affair in the deep South. I am so looking forward to celebrating this happy occasion for the following reasons:
  • Spending time with Julia and John and a few other beloved high school friends (obvs).
  • Mark will be making Julia's wedding cake, which means I get to gorge myself on the same wedding cake we had at our wedding.
  • Alabama BBQ.
  • Fun bridesmaid activities to celebrate the end of Julia's single days.
On Sunday I will be going to visit my parents in South Carolina. My dad is ill and I want to be there as he and my mom go through this extremely difficult time. He has a very positive attitude, however, and our family is proud of him for being so strong. Bringing it back to the post title... Things/People I love today: MY MOM AND DAD!
