I'm a sucker for places with giant SALE signs on display. One dangerous place is Anthropologie because it usually takes a stupid amount of effort to walk away from things I don't even need, like teacups and saucers.
But yesterday my friend Jyoti and I both made it out of there without a single purchase (or too much dillydallying, for that matter). The reason? I think we were so satisfied with the bargain purchases we had made earlier in the day at the Guild Shop.
The Guild Shop is a very popular consignment shop run by a local church ministry. Because it is located in a nice neighborhood, the shop gets lots of treasures - I especially enjoyed looking through the vintage costume jewelry, the sterling silver, and the china departments.
These were 2 of my finds yesterday:
The cameo piece is a ring and the rose is a pendant. I also bought another cameo pin (blue), possibly to turn into a pendant, so I'll share that when I have finished that project.
It was a fun trip, because Jyoti helped me pick out the rose pendant, and I found her a delicate gold charm necklace. I would like to think her necklace belonged to a Texas debutante but I guess we'll never know! My favorite charms were an owl charm and a winged insect (?) charm. We both loved the contrast between the delicate gold charm and the edginess of the owl/bug.
One cool thing about the Guild shop is that the price of each item depends on how long it's been in the store, so the prices are steadily decreasing each day! What's not to like?
