I like to keep to-do lists. One is boring: go to the bank, go to DMV, buy wood polish, etc. The other is full of fun things - places to eat, things to make, stores to visit, recipes to attempt. A few items on my fun to-do list:
Stores to visit: Kuhl-Linscomb. Check! This afternoon Jyoti and I went to Kuhl-Linscomb, a luxurious but unintimidating store for those with large pocketbooks. Sometimes in life I need to allow myself mindless fun, ok?
Restaurants to try: It seems like everyone in Houston is talking about a new-ish pizza place, Russo's, with a coal-burning oven and, yeah, I want to try it too. Mark makes delicious Italian-style pizza but maybe I need to try to appreciate East Coast style pizza now. According to the review in the Houston Press today, sausage + fennel pizza sounds scrumptious.
Also, a new Vietnamese restaurant, Hue, opened up nearby in the strip mall at Kirby/Richmond. That particular strip mall has good food vibes- we really liked Canton Seafood House, which used to be there. This might be the first fancy Vietnamese place in the Inner Loop. I'm really curious to see if it serves good Hue-style food.
Movies to see: When does Batman come out again? Mmm... Christian Bale.
Food to make: Chocolate hazelnut ice cream. Peach frozen yogurt. Sorry, I can't think of anything non-frozen because it's so hot. Our A/C went out today!
I can check one thing off my ongoing list of things to try. Ranking high on the "things I thought I would love but don't" list: Honey flavored "goat fresh" yogurt. To be honest, I was shocked I didn't love it -my favorite snack is crusty bread smeared with goat cheese and drizzled with honey. Oh well.
