Inspired: gallery wall

I've been trying to think of something to do with the blank space above our bed and I have decided that I like the idea of arranging a dozen or so different photographs -some prints, some personal photos- in gallery frames of different sizes.

Something like this (via West Elm)

Or maybe like this (via Domino)?

Or this? (also from Domino)

These aren't exactly what I had in mind but I haven't found the perfect inspiration picture yet. Basically, I I love the juxtaposition of different sizes and different types of frames.

We painted the bedroom cool, muted lavender so I would want to assemble a collection of photos in muted colors and black and white. The lavender walls sound sickly sweet, I know, but are actually amazing. The best part is how the wall color seems to transform throughout the day, from a beautiful lavender to a muted gray in the evening. The big surprise was that Mark loved the color as much as I did.

Anyway, while idly looking at Domino, I came across some really lovely photos by Alicia Bock. I immediately checked out her Etsy site and there are some great finds.

I love the soft texture and muted colors. Some of these would be perfect in my imaginary wall of photos.

Interesting... no?

oooo those are indeed very pretty photos! But for the stuff above your bed, aren't you afraid it will hit you in the face if anything falls??

I didn't exactly get that far yet, Sue! But yes... that is a valid concern. :)

why don't you take your own photographs instead of buying them online? or better yet, frame the ones from vietnam and put them up?
