To do: herbify my life

My mom has basil growing wild.

If you look closely, she has Thai basil and normal basil growing together. I love both!

Ideas:
  • Pesto (mortar and pestle style since my mom doesn't believe in "unnecessary" kitchen gadgets)
  • Green goddess dressing with tons of basil; especially good with grilled/broiled salmon.
  • Caprese salad with tomatoes, mozzarella, basil, and peppery extra virgin olive oil
  • Marinate chopped tomatoes in good olive oil, salt, coarsely ground pepper, and crushed garlic cloves; toss in freshly cooked spaghettini; shower with basil.
  • Make basil-infused sugar syrup; use to macerate fruit or splash in soda water.
  • Tofu or chicken stir fry with Thai basil and chilies.
  • Use Thai basil to generously garnish pho
  • Make panzanella. Toast chunks of crusty bread; compose salad of crusty croutons, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, and tons of basil and flat leaf parsley; add salt, freshly ground pepper, and splashes of red wine vinegar and extra virgin olive oil.
Any other ideas? The simpler, the better, in my opinion.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

why don't you make pesto using a mezzaluna instead of a blender? ad throw a tiny bit of mint in?

why don't you make basil sorbet? It is SO delicioso. I had some at dolce & freddo in houston before it closed. it's super refreshing and delightful.

also did you know you can store herbs in your freezer? have you ever tried this?
