Recovering

I have heard from many of you but, due to faulty cell phone networks, wasn't able to get in touch with everyone. I so appreciate your concern and I am happy to report that Mark and I are fine and our friends and family are safe. We were without power for less than 48 hours and had no major damage. We feel extraordinarily lucky to have been spared but are sad for our city and our neighborhood, which we love. Many members of our community were not so fortunate.

We awoke early Saturday morning to exploding transformers, showers of light, and the scary sound of electrical arcs. Here are some of the images we captured of our neighborhood Saturday afternoon after the winds and rain died down:

Despite the craziness of this storm, Mark and I had fun using our reserves and cooking meals on the camping stove from Mark's Eagle Scout days in Washington state. I'll be posting some of the pictures later.
